Below Will Be Found a List of Those Held in Blair County. During the year 1886 twenty-nine inquests were held in Blair County. Coroner W. H. Glen made returns of the following.
ALCOTT, James November 6, Altoona, Killed in the yard at Fourth street. Death Accidental. ATTICKS, C. E. August 20, Harrisburg, Fireman on middle division. Killed at east end of Elizabeth third track. Death accidental. BARCLAY, Frank July 27, Altoona, Death caused by a blood clot on the brain super induced by heart disease. BOLGAR, Florence August 28, Altoona, Death by spasms. BOTTORFF, William August 28, brakeman killed by being caught between cars in Altoona yard. Death Accidental. DEITER, John April 24, Killed on the Williamsburg branch railroad. Death Accidental. DERSCH, Joseph November 11, Reading, Death caused by hemorrhage. FLAHERTY, Michael January 26, Killed on railroad near the Horse Shoe bend. Death by accident. HAID, Charles August 16, Altoona, Death by Heart disease. HUSFIELD, Agnes November 1, Altoona, Verdict - Death caused by injuries received in an alter reaction between deceased and her husband. LINDER Sr., Lewis April 1, Altoona, Death caused by his being struck on breast by some person unknown to the jury. LITTLE, Frank G. September 23, Bennington, Death caused by brain trouble super induced by over exertion. McCARTY, Hugh December 17, brakeman, crushed to death between cars in Altoona yard. MILLER, William C. October 18, Suicide by taken laudanum. MOYER, Augustus July 13, Altoona, Death caused by falling across the limb of a tree. PANRO, Male Child December 27, child of Mrs. Catharine Panro, Altoona, Died of natural causes. PRUNER, David March 7, Tyrone, Acute alcoholism in connection with injuries received on the railroad near Twenty-fourth street. RENNER, Annie September 13, Altoona, Death the result of injuries received by being burnt. Death Accidental. STAHL, Charles J. June 4, Altoona, Death by Suicide. STEWART, Isaac May 11, Allegheny township, Death caused by a blow on the head in the manner unknown to the jury. SULLABARGER, Peter May 22, Altoona, Heart disease. UNKNOWN MAN, April 26, He was found on the railroad near Twentieth street. Death by Accidental. WATHTER, Mrs. Pauline August 24, Altoona, Killed on railroad near Kittanning. Death Accidental. WILLARD, J. W. June 1, Altoona, Crushed between cars. Death Accidental. WOLF, Philip February 11,Altoona, Death by suicide.
Other inquests in the county were two by Justice of Peace Jones, of Tyrone; one by Justice of Peace Waring, of Snyder Township, and one by Justice of Peace Dougherty, of North Woodbury Township. In all verdicts of accidental death were rendered.
